Cardano is a smart contract platform, similar to Ethereum, with a focus on security through a layered architecture. It’s the first blockchain project to be created from scientific philosophy and built on peer-reviewed academic research.

Cardano is developing a platform for smart contracts that aims to provide more advanced features than any previously developed protocol. This is the first blockchain platform that evolves from a scientific philosophy and a research-based approach. The development team consists of a large global team of experts, engineers and researchers from around the world. Using the groundbreaking Proof of Stake algorithm, Ouroboros, the IOHK team used an approach based on peer-reviewedacademic research to build Cardano from scratch.
The project's protocol aims to protect the privacy rights of users, but at the same time provides certain information for billing purposes. In this way, Cardano is the first protocol that balances these requirements in an efficient way, introducing a new approach to cryptocurrencies. Taking an example from other projects, the developers of Cardano noticed the need to adapt to changing conditions. Therefore, a system was designed that can be updated using soft forks.
